"We shouldn't do this."

Charlie turned around and gave Todd a pained look. "So go back to bed, then," he said, in a loud whisper. He descended the stairs to the landing, his bare feet making little sticking noises on the cool wood.

"But, Charlie - "

"Look, either go back to bed or come with me, but be *quiet* about it! You're going to wake up the whole school." Charlie turned around again and saw Todd standing above him with his hands in his pockets and a slightly hurt look on his face. "Oh, for god's sake - You're hungry, aren't you?"

Todd nodded.

"Well, come *on*, then." When Todd still looked doubtful, Charlie went back up the stairs and grabbed one of his hands, pulling the other boy down with him by force.

"Won't we get caught?" Todd asked, a little breathless, since Charlie was still pulling him quickly down the hallway, hand clasped firmly.

"Only if you wake someone up." Before Todd could voice another protest, Charlie opened up the door to the kitchen and shoved him through.

Todd looked at him in wonder. "I thought they locked that door at night."

Charlie grinned. "That's a popularly held misconception. Everyone believes it, so nobody ever even tries to break in." He strode over to one of the large fridges and opened it. "So, what do you want?" Todd walked over beside him, but before he could answer, Charlie handed over several items, which proved to be, on closer inspection, a bottle of milk and a plate with some sliced cold roast beef on it.

"Since when is there roast beef in there?" Todd asked. "We don't eat anything like this."

"Only faculty does - especially when a wealthy parent comes for a visit. That's why I told you to meet me tonight," Charlie explained. He rummaged around for butter and bread. "Normally, they eat Hellton Hash, too, but Gordon's father was here tonight, having dinner with Mr. Nolan."

They didn't dare to turn on the overhead fixtures and risk alerting anyone to their illicit presence, so only light in the kitchen came from the moonlight outside streaming in through the high windows. Even so, Charlie deftly managed to make not one, but two thick sandwiches in what seemed like no time flat. He also poured glasses of milk, and handed half the booty over to Todd, and they went over to the table where the kitchen staff ate their meals and sat down.

"Charlie?"

"Uh-huh?" It was all he could manage around the food in his mouth. Charlie took a swallow of milk to wash it down. "What's the problem? Aren't you hungry anymore?"

Todd nodded, and took a small bite of his sandwich. "Why did you ask *me* to come with you tonight? Why not Neil or Knox or one of the others?"

"First of all, the more people you have on a midnight raid, the more noise they make, and the more likely you'll get caught. Second of all - " Charlie trailed off, almost embarrassed. He shrugged. "You *know* why."

Todd grinned, picked up his sandwich and took a big bite from it. "Just checking."

Charlie grinned at him, too, and they ate the rest of their food in silence.

**********

"That was so good."

Charlie's head was stuck in the refrigerator again. "You want some dessert? I think there's cake in the back, too."

"Ugh, no," Todd said. "I'm stuffed. I couldn't eat another - " He paused when Charlie brought out a plate with a thickly-frosted chocolate cake on it. "Well, maybe just a *little* piece."

"How about we share one?" Charlie suggested. At Todd's nodded assent, he found another plate and a fork and a sharp knife, and cut a generous slice of the cake. It was awkward to share across the wide wooden table in the kitchen, so he came around the other side and drew his chair close to Todd's, handing the fork over to him for the first bite. He waited until Todd had taken a forkful before he moved closer still to the other boy and kissed him, thrusting his tongue inside Todd's mouth. "Mmm," Charlie said, when he broke the kiss. "Sweet."

Todd just grinned, and took another generous forkful of cake before handing the fork over to Charlie.

They passed the fork back and forth, sharing both the cake and hungry kisses to go along with it. By the time there was nothing except crumbs left on the plate, Todd was on Charlie's lap, straddling him, and was pressed up hard against the other boy, his arms wrapped around Charlie's neck.

"That was the best meal I've had since I came here," Todd said, playing with the back of Charlie's hair.

"I should hope so," Charlie said, pushing the empty plate away. He bit the corner of his lip, smiling. "You've got - "

"What?"

"A bit of chocolate on your face. Right here." Charlie raised a finger and swiped at a bit of frosting on Todd's chin, then sucked the finger into his mouth, cleaning it. "Didn't get it all," he said, and licked at the remaining residue with his tongue while Todd closed his eyes. "That's better."

"Thank you," Todd said, quietly. He bent over and kissed Charlie on the mouth. "For everything."

"You're welcome. For everything." Reluctantly, Charlie added. "We should probably clean up in here and go back to bed."

Todd nodded. "Okay," he said, and slid off Charlie's lap.

They rinsed and wiped their plates and glasses and utensils and dried them and put them back in the cupboards, and Charlie tried to re-arrange the food the way it had been in the fridge when they came in, not that he thought anyone would notice. They were satisfied and on their way out the door when they both heard a noise outside, and froze.

"Shit!" Charlie hissed.

Just before the door opened, Todd grabbed his hand and pulled him into a dark corner of the kitchen. They both held their breath when a tall figure, obviously a staff member, walked into the kitchen. It wasn't until he opened the fridge that they saw who it was, though.

"I know there was some cake left," Mr. Nolan said to himself, pulling the dessert from the back of the fridge.

When he turned his back to them to get a plate, the boys slipped unseen out through the door and ran silently down the hall, Charlie dragging Todd behind him.

**********

"What do you want to bet that there won't be any cake left by morning?" Charlie laughed, when they reached the top of the stairs.

"Oh, I don't know. Why don't we go back tomorrow night and make sure?" Todd asked, and pushed Charlie gently up against the wall. They kissed again.

"It couldn't hurt to be certain," Charlie agreed.

"Want to make it interesting?"

Warily, Charlie asked, "How?"

"Loser has to do the winner's bidding." At Charlie's somewhat lascivious grin, Todd added, with a smile, "Anything within reason."

"And within reason would be - ?"

"*Without* an audience."

"Spoilsport."

"Those are my terms," Todd said, and bit gently on one of Charlie's earlobes. "Take it or leave it."

Charlie was moaning deep in his throat as Todd's tongue swirled over his ear. "Uh - uh - okay, okay, I agree." Todd pulled away, grinning triumphantly. "I hate it when you do that," Charlie said, with a mock-pout.

"What?"

"Play dirty."

Todd shook his head. "Uh-unh," he said, solemnly. "You *love* it when I do that."

"Oh, yeah," Charlie grinned. "I forgot."

"This should serve to remind you." Todd put one hand on Charlie's chest, holding him firmly against the wall, and then pressed his lower body up against Charlie's, rubbing his hips into the other boy's groin, until he could feel a distinct - and shared - reaction. It was only a tease, though; after a minute, Todd kissed him on the mouth and then let him go. "See you tomorrow," he said, grinning, and started to walk away.

"Oh, Anderson," Charlie managed, through clenched teeth. "This time tomorrow, your ass is *mine*."

"We'll see," Todd said, still grinning, and walked down the hallway to his and Neil's bedroom. He waited until Charlie made it to his and Cameron's door, and added, "Until tomorrow."

"I'll be waiting," Charlie said, and disappeared into his room.

"Me, too," Todd echoed, and hoped that Neil was still asleep.
