Summary: Charlie and Todd spend some time together.

{Hmm. I'd hate to be accused of being incapable of writing simple sexy fun for these boys, but - umm, I had a point there, somewhere. . .
I had too many ideas, that was my problem. That and the fact that I just hate writing sex, for some reason. I'd be a starving pornographer, if I did this for a living.}

"Neil's acting strange."

Charlie bit the last bit of apple from the core in his hand and then tossed it into the lake. "How can you tell?" he asked, still chewing.

Todd chuckled. "Be serious," he said, and craned his neck, resting it against Charlie's shoulder.

"I am serious. I mean, he's my friend and all, but he can be just a little melodramatic at times. Whenever his father shows up, he looks like he's going to piss himself."

"That's not fair, Charlie," Todd frowned. "You know what Neil's father's like."

"Yeah, I do. He's like mine, only more interested."

"It's just since he found out about us. He opens his mouth like he wants to say something, and then - " Todd shrugged. "He just doesn't. It's like he doesn't know what to say."

"Maybe he *doesn't*."

"But he's my friend - "

"Look," Charlie said, "I know you're worried about this, but I don't want to spend all of our time out here talking about Neil." He shifted, and reached his hands around to unbutton a few low buttons on Todd's shirt, slipping one hand inside and resting it on a quivering stomach. "Do you?"

Todd bit his lip. Charlie was sitting against a tree by the lake, and Todd was sitting against Charlie, his arms on Charlie's drawn-up knees. The sun made even this late fall day feel unseasonably warm; they'd shed their school-jackets on the ground after a few minutes. The weather was part of the reason that they'd come out here, and to be alone and away from the school and pretend - but when Charlie's wet lips nipped at his earlobe, Todd shivered.

"We can keep talking," Charlie said, his fingers still stroking Todd's stomach, "if you really want. But - "

Before he could finish, Todd suddenly pulled away and turned around, resting his hands on his knees.

"What?" Charlie asked, frowning.

"I want," Todd said, and then took a breath and reached for Charlie's belt and undid it, and popped the button at the waist and unzipped the fly. When he looked up, Charlie was staring at him, mouth slightly open, incredulous at the bold move. Todd smiled, and reached inside the opening in the front of Charlie's underwear, finding smooth, warm flesh inside. Charlie's cock seemed to leap when Todd touched it, but there was too much confining fabric in the way of what he wanted - pants and underwear and the tails of Charlie's white shirt. His own shirt gaping open as he leaned forward, Todd unbuttoned Charlie's shirt all the way up to the collar, and shoved his undershirt up over his ribs.

He was mostly dressed - almost completely dressed, really, with just the bare space between his nipples and the dark line of hair below his navel that was unclothed - but to Todd, Charlie looked completely vulnerable, exposed. He tugged at the open waist of his pants, and Charlie lifted his hips, so Todd could pull them down, just to the hips, to the edge of his underwear.

Very aware that anyone could come at any moment and find them lying there together in an obviously compromising position, Todd nevertheless leaned down and rubbed his cheek against Charlie's cock, through the white cotton of his shorts. It was a startlingly intimate gesture, and Todd heard the sudden hitch of Charlie's indrawn breath. Through the thin fabric, he could feel the heat of Charlie's cock, and there was a growing spot of wetness near the head, too. Suddenly, Charlie pushed him over on his back in the tall grass, and they were kissing, and fumbling with buttons and cloth - on Todd's shirt and pants, and underwear - but although clothing was unfastened and opened and bunched up and pulled down, neither of them actually took anything off.

Todd tried to raise his knees up, but he was effectively pinned by his clothing and by the weight of Charlie lying on top of him. Charlie was biting his lips and thrusting against him, and Todd had to push hard against his chest to get him to stop.

"What?" Charlie asked again. He was breathing hard.

"Wait," Todd said, panting. "Wait."

Charlie rolled over on his back. "Okay," he said. The sun was too bright, golden, and he had to shut his eyes against it. He didn't open them again until he felt a shadow fall over his face. He had to blink a couple of times before he could see Todd's face clearly.

"I want it to - " Todd started. "I mean, I don't want - I just - " He stopped, frustrated at his inability to convey what he wanted to happen. It was just too fast, and he didn't want it to be *fast*, but he didn't know how to say that.

"How about," Charlie said, trailing fingers up Todd's arm, "you don't talk? Just - *show* me."

Todd nodded. He kissed Charlie - not hard, just softly, fleeting. Charlie licked his lips, and Todd kissed him again, a little more deeply. He traced his fingers over Charlie's stomach, down to the navel and back up, slipping under his undershirt and tweaking a nipple. He pulled away from Charlie's mouth, so he could watch him, watch the reactions in the other boy's body that his fingers could feel. When he placed his lips against Charlie's stomach, he could feel the trembling there, and Charlie thrust up against him.

Todd responded to that silent request, hooking his fingers on the waistband of Charlie's school-issue white boxers. He eased them over Charlie's hips and, with his pants, down past his knees, slowly exposing him to the air. When his cock came into view, Todd leaned over and kissed the sticky head, and Charlie moaned.

"Do you love me?" Todd asked, rubbing the pad of his thumb over the smooth cockhead.

Charlie caught his wrist and pulled him up again, and they kissed. His cock pressed against Todd's thigh, leaving a wet trail against the skin. "What do you think?"

"I want you to say it," Todd said.

Charlie flipped him over onto the grass, pinning him down with a knee in between Todd's thighs and his hands clamped tight onto his wrists. "Or else what?"

Todd thrust up against him, grinning. "I'll go back to the school."

Charlie glanced down at him. Todd's own cock was straining against the fabric of his underwear. "Like that? I don't think so." He slipped his hand inside the boxers and gave him an experimental stroke.

Todd moaned. "God - Charlie - "

"Tell me what you want," Charlie demanded, still holding him down.

"I want - I want you to touch me," Todd said, his voice almost a sob. "Please."

"Whatever you say." Charlie pulled down Todd's boxers and then lay on top of him, so that their bodies thrust together. He bit at Todd's neck, careful not to bite hard enough to leave a mark.

They were both almost dressed - pants and underwear around their ankles and shirts undone - and dry leaves crunched underneath Todd's back as they thrust together. Todd closed his eyes and breathed in the scent of apple on Charlie's breath, opening his mouth when Charlie's tongue pushed its way in between his lips. They settled into a steady, urgent rhythm of thrusting and kissing, and Charlie's hands were still tight against Todd's wrists.

When he felt himself about to come, Todd opened his eyes and looked at Charlie's face, scrunched up and almost pained-looking, teeth clamped into his bottom lip. It made Todd smile, and he smiled until he came with a final thrust against Charlie's hip and a flood of wet warmth that somehow ended up in the nonexistent space between them. Charlie followed him soon after, and raised his hands and clutched at Todd's hair and held him, his body shaking as he shuddered a desperate release. He didn't move away for a long time.

They lay together on their backs, side-by-side, bathed in a pool of golden sunlight for more than a quarter of an hour before either one of them spoke.

Todd sat up. "We should get back," he said. "We'll be late for dinner."

"Typical," Charlie snorted, with a grin. "Always thinking of your stomach." He tried to straighten up his clothing, rooting around in his pockets for a handkerchief or something to clean himself up with.

Todd was already wiping away the sticky mess on his stomach and thighs. He reached over to clean Charlie up, too, when he was finished with himself, but the gesture suddenly seemed too familiar, and he stopped, blushing. Charlie kissed him in the space at the base of his neck, and Todd reached around, holding on to him tight for just a few moments.

"I do, you know," Charlie murmured into his ear.

"I know," Todd said.

Charlie stood up, then, and pulled up his pants, his shirt-tails untucked, brushing leaves and bits of grass from his clothes, and then from Todd's, when he stood up beside him. "You've got grass in your hair," Charlie said, and picked bits of it out. "Go like this," he said, finally, and shook himself all over like a wet dog.

Todd smiled, but did the same, brushing his fingers through his hair.

"Better," Charlie said. He rolled up his jacket and tucked it under his arm, and stuffed his tie into one of his pants-pockets.

Todd put his jacket on, and tucked in his shirt, and grabbed Charlie's arm before he could walk away. "Do I look - " he started, and then tried again. "Are they going to look at me and know that we - ?"

"Not so much now," Charlie said, looking him over. "Not now that you've got the grass out of your hair. Just don't look at anyone - you know you blush when anyone so much as looks at you. Although, on second thought, they'll just think you're being normal if you do that. Besides," he said, and tucked one of Todd's hands into his pocket, their hidden fingers laced together, and started to walk back towards the school, "they probably all think we've been doing it all along."

"But you told them - "

"You don't think they really believed that, do you?"

Todd shrugged.

"I wouldn't," Charlie said. "Do you really care what they think?" he asked, casually.

"No," Todd said, slowly, "except - "

"Except Neil's acting strange," Charlie sighed.

Todd nodded. "Yeah."

They'd stopped walking, and Charlie looked at Todd. "Maybe he's jealous," he said, finally. "Maybe he wishes he was me."

"Be serious," Todd said, dismissively.

"I am serious," Charlie said, but he started to walk again. "Think about it: It would have been perfect for you if it had been Neil," he said. "Being roommates with him, and all. No sneaking around like us, trying to find somewhere to be together - you'd just have to wait for lights out and he'd be right there, with you."

"The same would go for you and Cameron," Todd agreed.

"Don't even *joke* about something like that," Charlie groaned, but had to laugh when he saw the teasing smile that Todd was giving him. "Maybe he's wishing he'd made a move."

"Well, *I* don't wish you were Neil," Todd said, and leaned over and kissed Charlie on the cheek.

Although he said nothing, Charlie couldn't keep the pleased smile from his face.

Todd kept his hand in Charlie's pocket until the school came into view, then he stopped and wrapped his arms around himself. "So, what are we - ?" he asked, shrugging.

"Why don't you meet me in the cave tomorrow night?" Charlie said. "There's no meeting, and we could try building a fire in there."

"Okay," Todd nodded. "I'd like that." He stood there, awkwardly, wanting to do something, but knowing they stood too close to where someone could just look over and see them. Boys were streaming back from the soccer field and from field hockey practice, to go and get ready for dinner. He spied Knox and Neil with books in their arms walking back with Mr. Keating, and he wanted to call out to them, or go over there, but he didn't. He felt strange - like if anyone except Charlie looked into his eyes, they'd just know.

Charlie followed his eyes, though, and walked right over to his friends, Todd lagging slightly behind. "Hey, Cap'n," he said to the teacher, "are you ready for another helping of Hellton Hash?"

Knox chuckled, as did Mr. Keating. "You shouldn't mock the food, Mr. Dalton," he said. "Remember: Hellton Hash is what made me the man I am today."

Charlie grinned. "Aye, Captain."

"Gentlemen, I take my leave of you," Mr. Keating said. "I must prepare some exciting banter to share with Mr. Nolan over dinner." He nodded at the boys and headed off for the school.

Charlie fell into stride beside Knox, putting an arm on his shoulder. "So, Knoxious," he said, "what about that Latin mid-term?"

Knox groaned, "Don't remind me. How can anyone think about *Latin* when there are so many more important things in the world?"

"Let me guess - like the fair and beautiful Chris?" Charlie looked back at Neil and Todd, and rolled his eyes when Knox launched into another long recitation of his dream girl's imagined charms.

Todd grinned, but it didn't last for long. He felt awkward and uncomfortable around the more-silent- than-usual Neil, and wracked his brain for something to *say* to him. "So," he said, finally, "uh, did you do the math assignment?"

"No," Neil shook his head. "I thought I'd do it after dinner."

"Maybe we could, um, do it together?"

"Sure," Neil shrugged. "You're not busy?"

Todd shook his head. "Maybe if we get it done, we could run some of your lines. If you want to, I mean."

"That would be good," Neil said. "Thanks."

They didn't say anything else for the rest of the walk back, just listened to Charlie teasing Knox about Chris, but for some reason, Todd felt enormously relieved, and happy again. It didn't even occur to him that his changed mood had more to do with the fact that Neil was speaking to him again than with anything he and Charlie had just done.
